About The Event

Diverse Learning/Diverse Teaching Week was established to bridge the gap between the varied learning styles and teaching modes on campus. We have different writing processes, different thinking processes, diverse modes of being, and we at the Writing Center believe we should work to accommodate every learner. Regardless of age, disability, veteran or active duty status, national guard duty, or any other category that places a student outside the rage of the typical student body, every student deserves the chance to learn and grow.

With our open house on October 1st, we welcome students, faculty, and staff from across our beautiful campus to explore what the Writing Center has to offer: learn about our facility, meet our staff, and learn about the adaptive technology available. Then, starting at 4 p.m., there will be a resource fair for ODS students and veterans/active duty/national guard personnel. The following day, October 2nd, we will begin our lecture series with Alyssa Crow premiering at 4 p.m. The lecture series will bring in some of the foremost experts on disability and disability studies from our faculty. Lecturers will present on new models of thinking about teaching those with disabilities.

We invite faculty, students, and staff to join us in exploring, celebrating, and creating a meaningful learning experience for all.
